Why some Flyway Birding maps look empty
An empty or sparse map usually reflects the available evidence rather than a technical failure.
- Few observers may have reported from the area recently.
- Your date, distance, taxon, or target filters may be too restrictive.
- The species may be absent, uncommon, secretive, or outside its typical seasonal window.
- Source services may be temporarily unavailable.
Expand the date range or search radius gradually, then compare nearby hotspots. Do not interpret missing reports as proof that a species is absent.
