What it does

Plan trips around the wildlife you might actually encounter.

NaturalistTripper combines iNaturalist, eBird, and GBIF records with season, route, area, and target-species planning so you can understand biological possibility before you go.

Choose a place or route, set your interests, and build a field-ready plan
  1. 05:48
    Pre-trip

NaturalistTripper builds a route. Place caches geology and ownership.

  2. 06:24
    On the ground

Montana Field Guide opens to species accounts without signal.

  3. 10:30
    Capture & log

Photographs land in Lightroom. Flyway Birding logs the count.

  4. evening
    Publish

GeoPlace tags every photograph. iNat Publish Pro batches the day.

Trip planning

Move from a map pin to a realistic species picture.

NaturalistTripper is designed for travel planning, field preparation, and species discovery rather than live navigation.

Data and limits

Multiple biodiversity sources, with their differences left visible.

Sources
  • iNaturalist observations
  • eBird records and hotspot data
  • GBIF occurrence records
  • Weather, terrain, route, and map context where enabled
Honest limitations
  • Occurrence records describe past observations, not guaranteed future presence.
  • Sampling effort differs among regions, taxa, seasons, and data sources.
  • NaturalistTripper supports planning and discovery but is not a navigation or safety system.
FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need accounts for iNaturalist, eBird, or GBIF?

Public occurrence data can be explored without signing in. Optional account connections and API credentials can unlock additional personal or source-specific features.

Does a species list guarantee I will see those species?

No. The list is an evidence-based planning estimate derived from historical records, season, geography, filters, and source coverage.

Can I use NaturalistTripper offline?

Saved plans and downloaded materials can support offline field use, while new searches and some live data require connectivity.
